Catch Fall Flicks at County Parks

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Summertime fun will carry into the fall this year. Summer Movies in the Park continues with two dozen free outdoor movies in September and October. So pop the popcorn, grab your picnic blanket and get ready for family-friendly films under the stars.

Locations range from Fallbrook in the north, Chula Vista to the south and many communities in between. All the films are rated from G to PG-13. Catch a classic – “The Wizard of Oz” and “The Princess Bride”—or one of the four frighteningly fun flicks that celebrate Halloween, including “Hocus Pocus,” “Hotel Transylvania,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” and “Frankenweenie.”

This is the 10th year that County Parks and Recreation and participating cities have offered what is now billed as the largest free movie event in the country. This year’s festivities are presented by Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Centers.

All movies start 15 minutes after sunset. Many locations offer music, arts and crafts, games and other fun activities for children an hour or so before the show starts. For additional information, visit Summer Movies in the Park online.
