Are you interested in being part of what happens next with redevelopment? Then you might want to sit on one of the region’s 17 redevelopment oversight boards. The San Diego County Board of Supervisors is appointing some of the people who will serve on the County Oversight Board and the 16 city oversight boards.

“Public boards such as these give people a voice on important issues and a link to local government,” said Chairman Ron Roberts, San Diego County Board of Supervisors.

All redevelopment agencies were dissolved under state law in February. Local governments have established successor agencies to complete the former redevelopment agency business, which includes debt repayment and asset sales. An oversight board will supervise each successor agency as it carries out these duties and approves a budget for the agency to make payments.

Each oversight board consists of seven members. The Board of Supervisors can appoint two members to each of the successor agency oversight boards, except for the City of Coronado, which has three County appointees.

The Clerk of the Board of Supervisors is now accepting applications for the various oversight boards and the applications are due by 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 20. Applications must be mailed to the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors at the County Administration Center, 1600 Pacific Highway, Room 402, San Diego, CA 92101-2471. On the form, applicants should specify on which board they want to serve.

All applications are forwarded to the Board of Supervisors, who will appoint the members at the April 3 Board meeting.

The Board will make appointments to the following successor agency oversight boards:

  • County of San Diego Oversight Board
  • City of Carlsbad Oversight Board
  • City of Chula Vista Oversight Board
  • City of Coronado Oversight Board
  • City of El Cajon Oversight Board

  • City of San Diego Oversight Board
  • City of San Marcos Oversight Board
