The First 5 Commission of San Diego announced today that Kimberly Medeiros will be the new Executive Director of First 5 San Diego.

Kimberly Medeiros has served the County since 1999 in various roles, most recently as the Deputy Director for the County Department of Human Resources.

“Kim brings an extraordinary amount of leadership and management expertise to this crucial role,” said Supervisor Pam Slater-Price, Chair of the First 5 Commission. “Not only will she provide oversight to the many wonderful programs and services, but will provide support to the Commissioners as well.”

Prior to her position in human resources, Medeiros served in several capacities in the County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) where she worked for ten years.

“We are pleased to have Kim back in the health and social services arena,” said Nick Macchione, Director of HHSA and First 5 Commissioner. “Her extensive knowledge of our programs is the perfect choice to help move this outstanding organization forward.”

The First 5 Commission of San Diego promotes the health and well being of young children during their most critical years of development, from the prenatal stage through five years of age. First 5 San Diego programs and services are funded through San Diego County’s portion of the State’s Proposition 10  tax revenues.

Medeiros replaces Barbara Jiménez, who now serves HHSA as Deputy Director of the North Regions.
