Get Your Wheels and Deals All Online

Bidding is underway on the County of San Diego’s first vehicle auction conducted completely online.

In the past, prospective buyers could attend the surplus vehicle auction or watch online while auctioneers and spotters took bids. Now there is no physical auction, the event takes place entirely online. Those interested in picking up new wheels, at least to them, can bid and outbid each other from the comfort of their home or office.

The online auction opened Tuesday morning. More than 60 surplus vehicles, including automobiles and heavy equipment and surplus government property from the County and other local agencies went on the auction block with bids starting at $100. Among the vehicles are: two low mileage Ford Ranger Sport truck 4X4’s, one Caterpillar model 916E loader, a 2007 Ford Expedition 4X4 and a 2006 Dodge Charger.

Browse through the catalogue photos and you’ll find a variety of cars, some BMW motorcycles and even some school buses.

You can still kick the tires, so to speak, at the auction preview from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, May 16 and noon to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at TNT Auction Company’s new preview site at 369 Main Street, Ramona, CA, 92065.

The online auction begins closing at noon, Monday, May 19. Last minute bids could extend that time frame for a brief amount of time until the bidding stops and then the lot will close at the final price.
