VIDEO: Inmates Plant Seeds of Hope at County Park

A group of inmates spent part of their day planting trees at El Monte County Park as part of a job training partnership between the Sheriff’s Department and County Parks and Recreation.

The Civics Program began in 2014 to help inmates develop skills needed for employment after their release. Inmate workers perform tasks such as landscaping, clearing vegetation and tree trimming. Trees grown at a jail greenhouse will be planted at five parks around the county this month.
