Beach Closure Extended to La Jolla Cove

Reading Time: < 1 minute

A sewage spill that prompted beach closures in the area around Children’s Pool in La Jolla has been extended to La Jolla Cove, the County Department of Environmental Health said Wednesday.

The spill Tuesday originally closed beach access points extending about 1,000 feet north and south of Children’s Pool, as well as South Casa Beach. As of Wednesday, the closure was extended north to include the cove and accessible beach line 500 feet to the east.

Signs warning of the contamination are posted at all affected areas and will remain there until samples of the water confirm that it is safe for recreational use.

For updates on beach closure information please visit the County’s beach information website or call the 24-hr. hotline at (619) 338-2073.
