More than 100 students and staff at San Diego City College showed that actions speak louder than words Thursday when it comes to improving health and fitness.

The college celebrated its recent partnership with the County on Live Well San Diego and capped off a three-day series of health and wellness events called Step Up to Live Well by holding a campus-wide fun run/walk.

“City College has made great strides in promoting the health and wellness of students and the entire campus community,” said Supervisor Ron Roberts. “You could see that work on display today in the students’ energetic support of the Live Well campaign. Well done, everyone.”

San Diego City College is the first college to partner with the County on Live Well San Diego, the County’s ongoing initiative to improve the health and safety of residents. The County has partnered with cities, school districts, healthcare organizations and community-based organizations on the initiative, which was launched by the Board of Supervisors in 2010.

“Our Step Up to Live Well partnership with the County has energized our whole campus to think about ways to improve our physical and mental health,” said City College President Lynn Neault.  “City College is proud to be the first higher education partner in the Live Well initiative, and we are honored to be a model for other colleges to join this educational effort to live well.”
