The San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted Wednesday to accept a $503,304 grant to test and administer an advanced hybrid school bus engine that will reduce air pollution and toxic emissions.

The funding for the Advanced Hybrid Technology School Bus Demonstration Project will be used in partnership with Poway-based Transportation Power, Inc. to adapt a new advanced battery-electric drive technology into a school bus. Once complete, San Diego County school districts will be able to test the bus to see if they would like to upgrade their fleets with cleaner school buses.
