Dozens and Dozens Choose 12-12-12 for Weddings

Reading Time: 2 minutes

You want to make everything about your wedding day special, and that can include the date. So it was no surprise that many couples chose December 12, 2012, or 12-12-12, the last repeating-number date of the century.

It was an extremely busy day to tie the knot at the County’s four offices that issue marriage licenses. Appointments for licenses and wedding ceremonies were almost solidly booked by first thing Wednesday morning.

Besides the date’s noteworthiness, all the couples we spoke with cited the always-important feature of being easy to remember. Below are just a few of the newlyweds at the County Administration Center downtown. Learn more about wedding services on the Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk website.

Jamie and Richard Perreras said they were planning to get married around this time but held off until the once-in-a-century date.

Jennifer and Gianni Lavin said the date had a little extra significance for them because it’s her grandmother’s birthday.

Rick and Eileen Cook had been planning to get married next year, but they decided to elope on the unique date.

Vyri and Ryan Foster. Ryan said it “seemed like the perfect day” to get married.
