Help County Airports, Marines Put Magic Into Children’s Holidays

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The holiday season can be a special time for children. And you can help put some magic in it for less fortunate children by donating a new, unwrapped toy at four of the County’s airports during the Marine Corps’ annual Toys for Tots campaign.

“There’s nothing more magical during the holidays than putting a smile on the face of a child,” said County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Dianne Jacob. “We’re extremely proud to team up again with the Marine Corps on an event that will make this season so much brighter for a lot of children.”

Donation collection boxes are being put out starting today at McCellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad, Gillespie Field in El Cajon, Fallbrook Airpark and Ramona Airport.

Donations can include new, unwrapped toys, bicycles, games, dolls, stuffed animals — and just about anything that brighten a child’s holiday. Pilots can fly in their donations at all the airports. All toys will be given to less fortunate children from the county’s local communities.

Donations will be collected through Dec. 6 at Fallbrook Airpark, Dec. 12 at McClellan-Palomar and Gillespie Field, and through Dec. 13 at Ramona Airport.

There will be special collection events on two of those dates. Marines in full dress uniform will personally take in collections from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6 at Fallbrook Airpark; and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 13 at Ramona Airport.
