Reading Time: < 1 minute

Hundreds of kids, teens, and adults explored literature, writing, and entertainment on Saturday at the third annual San Diego County Library Book Festival.

The Festival took place at the Encinitas Branch and included keynote speakers Lisa See (Dreams of Joy), Gotham Chopra (The Seven Spiritual Laws of Superheroes), Ellen Hopkins (Crank and Triangles), Kim Barnouin (Skinny B–ch series), and Bernard Guillas (Flying Pans).

The Book Festival also featured panels of mystery, local history, non-fiction, and audio book authors.  Entertainment included a performance by Clint Perry & the Boo Hoo Crew, Michael J’s Tribute to Johnny Cash with June Carter, and guitarist Peter Sprague.  Kids enjoyed free caricatures, face painting, and comedic juggler Michael Rayner.

“The San Diego County Library Book Festival is one of our most popular events,” said Library Director José Aponte.  “Our goal is to connect the community of San Diego with literature, culture, and a transformational learning experience.”
