"It’s How we Live!" Festival Returns to Lakeside Saturday

March 20, 2012 | 12:23pm

Families can sample nutritious foods, get expert exercise tips, watch healthy cooking demonstrations, receive free health screenings, watch dance performances and hear great music Saturday, March 24 at the seventh annual “It’s How We Live! Family Day in the Park” at Lindo Lake Park in Lakeside.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. — right after the Lakeside Union School District’s “Run for the Arts” fun-run — and end at 1 p.m.

Parking and Admission are free.

There will also be a climbing wall, crafts, games and inflatable “bounce houses,” for kids to enjoy, informational booths and health-related prizes and giveaways. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department will also have a booth at the event.

The festival is designed to let people know that being healthy can be fun and its unofficial motto is “Go Play, Get Fit, Be Healthy.”

Free health screenings will include body-fat analysis and dental screenings.

The event is being sponsored by the San Diego County Department of Parks and Recreation, the County Health and Human Services Agency, the County Commission on Children, youth and Families and the Promises2Kids Foundation.

The Lakeside Community Center is located in Lindo Lake Park at 9841 Vine St. in Lakeside.
