Microchip Your Pets Before Disaster Strikes
It’s that time of year when wildfires can break out at any time. The County’s Department of Animal Services urges you to make sure your pets are microchipped – just in case they are separated from you.
Pet owners can get their animals microchipped, vaccinated and licensed at the County Department of Animal Services between noon and 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15 at the shelter at 5821 Sweetwater Road in Bonita.
Animal Services will microchip pets for a one-time fee of $20, which includes the registration. Rabies vaccinations for dogs (four months or older) and cats (three months or older) are $6. Amnesty from late fees is offered to owners who have failed to license their dog or have allowed their dog’s annual license to lapse. Licenses aren’t required for cats.
Microchipping and rabies vaccinations are available to anyone. Licenses and spay/neuter coupons ($25-male/$50-female) are available for residents who live in the unincorporated county or contract cities: San Diego, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar, and Santee.
