A Rebirth for Provence House

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Provence House in Bonita is re-opening to the public as a new special events location for the South County.

Built as a private home in the late 1940s, it has undergone several transformations as a park ranger office, history center and more. Now the Provence House is starting anew as a charming location for weddings, receptions and other special occasions.

“With Provence House, we are investing in the community and providing opportunities for South County residents and organizations to host public and private events at a house at a park,” said Supervisor Greg Cox.

County Supervisor Greg Cox and County Parks and Recreation staff members celebrated the grand re-opening of the Provence House Saturday with a variety of community events including a 3-mile hike on a trail around the nearby Chula Vista Golf Course, a free pancake breakfast and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Visitors also took self-guided tours of the newly-renovated building, at the City of Chula Vista’s Rohr Park. It now features new windows and doors, a remodeled bathroom and kitchen, new landscaping and extra parking. The building and newly-shaded patio offers 3,765 square feet of event space and an additional 4,000 square feet in the back yard. The location can accommodate up to 250 guests.

The Provence House is at 4370 Sweetwater Road. For additional information on reservations and fees, visit the facility’s website or call (858) 565-3600.
