Reading Time: < 1 minute

An estimated 33,000 gallons of sewage spilled into Ostrich Creek in Fallbrook Wednesday, the County’s Environmental Health Department reported.

The spill came from a ruptured main at a lift station at 2841 Overland Trail. It began about 6:00 a.m. and continued for more than five hours until crews from the Fallbrook Public Utilities District shut down the pump station.

The creek is alongside the lift station. Signs warning of sewage contamination are posted at public access points along Ostrich Creek and will remain in place until samples confirm that water is no longer affected.
