Ben Vereen, actor
Reading Time: < 1 minute

He’s won multiple Tony Awards, Emmy Awards and Golden Globes. He’s been on Broadway, in numerous films, released CDs, appeared in an endless list of TV shows, including playing Chicken George in Roots and he’s in two Hall of Fames.

But for Ben Vereen, who’s headlining this year’s San Diego County Vital Aging Conference, the accomplishments outside of entertainment are just as great.

Vereen has worked with the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Association, Community Mental Health Council and American Red Cross, as well as leading an ongoing diabetes awareness campaign and receiving numerous humanitarian awards.

As the keynote speaker at the conference, he will share his passion for living a healthy lifestyle and motivating others to do the same.

The free Vital Aging Conference, called “Steps for Success,” will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 2, at four locations around the county. Liberty Station in San Diego is the main conference site and will host the keynote address by Vereen. He will be webcast to regional locations in Escondido (California Center for the Arts, 240 N. Escondido Blvd.), Spring Valley (Faith Chapel, 9400 Campo Rd.) and National City (Cornerstone Church of San Diego, 1920 Sweetwater Rd.).

Participants at all locations will learn tips for improving and maintaining health through balanced nutrition, exercising for a purpose, caring for yourself while caring for others and general brain health information. There will be local resources and exhibitors at each location as well.

Reservations are required for the event and include a healthy lunch. To register, visit www.AISevents.org or call 1-800-82-SHARP (1-800-827-4277).
