While local law enforcement and firefighters are out helping with humans evacuated by the Border Fire, the County of San Diego Department of Animal Services is also in the field to help remove pets and livestock in harm’s way.

From sheep to chickens, dogs to horses – even 25 mini donkeys – the department’s officers have been working non-stop to make sure animals are safe and sound during this emergency.

Here are some of the furry faces helped out during the Border Fire. Click any image to launch slideshow.
