Elections

Today is Last Day to Register to Vote in Feb. 11 Election

Reading Time: 2 minutes

If you want to vote in the Special Consolidated Election Feb. 11, you must register to vote by midnight tonight.

The election consolidates the runoff for mayor of the City of San Diego and a special election for the City of Solana Beach. Voters in Solana Beach will decide on Proposition B which would allow special use permits to be issued for the Fletcher Cove Community Center.

You will need to register if you:

  • are not currently registered
  • recently moved
  • recently changed your name

If you’re not sure about your registration status, check it online at sdvote.com. If you’re not registered or need to change your registration, you’ll find that form there, too. If your signature is confirmed through Department of Motor Vehicles records, it will automatically be sent to the Registrar of Voters (ROV) office. If the signature is not confirmed, print the form, sign it and mail it to the Registrar today or you can drop it off in person at the Registrar of Voters (ROV) new office in Kearny Mesa (map below). By state law, the Registrar must have your original signature.

For voters without access to a computer, registration forms are also available at the Registrar’s office, US Post Offices, public libraries, City Clerk offices and Department of Motor Vehicles offices. For voters who need language assistance, election materials are also available in Spanish, Filipino, Vietnamese and Chinese.

Registration forms must be postmarked or delivered to the Registrar by midnight tonight. Voters can also register online until midnight.

If you stop by the Registrar’s office, remember it is now in a new location. The Registrar moved to the County Operations Center last month. The new address is 5600 Overland Ave., San Diego, 92123.

Meantime, early voting is already under way at the Registrar’s office. Voters can cast their ballots there from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until Election Day when the voting hours will change to 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. to reflect the hours at the polls.

If a mail ballot is more convenient, registered voters can request a mail ballot until Feb. 4.
