TB Exposure Reported at Chuze Fitness

The Tuberculosis Control Branch in the Public Health Services department, of the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency, in collaboration with Chuze Fitness officials are working to notify employees and members potentially exposed to tuberculosis at Chuze Fitness-Mission Valley and Chuze Fitness-Chula Vista. Based on available information, there is no evidence to show that these two exposures are related, at this time. These exposures are also unrelated to other recently announced TB exposures in our community.

The Tuberculosis Program in the Public Health Services department, of the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency, in collaboration with San Diego State University and Aztec Shops are working closely to notify employees potentially exposed to tuberculosis on the SDSU campus, primarily at the Charles B. Bell Jr., Pavilion. Exposures to the general public, SDSU students and faculty, and to other employees are considered to be limited.

Report Shows Slight Increase In Suicide Deaths

After years of declines, confirmed suicide deaths in San Diego County rose to 360 in 2022, slightly more than the 358 recorded in 2021, which was the lowest number of deaths in 10 years.

Deer Mouse Tests Positive for Hantavirus

A deer mouse collected near Mount Laguna Aug. 24 during routine monitoring has tested positive for hantavirus. Hantavirus in wild rodents is relatively common in San Diego County. This is the seventh routine detection of hantavirus in the region for calendar year 2023.
