The National Association of Counties honored San Diego County with 48 Achievement Awards, which recognize innovative, efficient County programs.

Among those, three were singled out as Best in Category: a first responder safety guide detailing the extreme hazards of illicit butane honey oil laboratories and the conditions that lead up to explosive results; San Diego County-drafted legislation to establish a state health and safety code that allows commercial fishermen to sell directly to consumers at a weekly Fishermen Market; and a County-designed secure smartphone app that gives Probation Officers access to its offender database and case management system in the field.

“We are pleased to be recognized so highly among our county government peers” said Board of Supervisors Chairman Ron Roberts. “These awards help affirm the ongoing efforts by County departments to improve services to the public and our region as a whole. Congratulations go out to our entire team.”
