Encinitas Library Sponsors Wellness Week

The San Diego County Library has partnered with the Downtown Encinitas Mainstreet Association to host Encinitas’ third-annual Wellness Week. The event is a week-long program to educate and engage the public to improve their physical, mental and spiritual health.

The San Diego County Library has partnered with the Downtown Encinitas Mainstreet Association to host Encinitas’ third-annual Wellness Week. The event is a week-long program to educate and engage the public to improve their physical, mental and spiritual health.

Wellness Week begins with a festival at the Encinitas Library, 540 Cornish Drive, on Saturday, Jan. 19 with free health screenings, cooking demonstrations, Zumba, yoga, Aikido, robotic surgery demonstrations and wellness activities for kids.

“Wellness Week allows us introduce a whole new group of local healthcare providers to our customers,” said Amy Geddes, Encinitas Library branch manager. “We really treasure our partnership with the Downtown Encinitas Mainstreet Association.”

During the rest of the week, until Saturday, Jan. 26, people can take part in many free activities throughout the community. Some of the offerings include:

·         Several seminars and fitness classes at the library

·         Free entry-level yoga classes

·         Free 30-minute personal training sessions

·         Free intro to surfing clinics

·         Free blood pressure and glucose screenings, flu vaccines and BMI calculations

·         Community bike ride

·         Farmers Market tours

Several Encinitas businesses are also offering health-related discounts all week.
