Following the devasting Jan. 22 storm that impacted thousands of families in the region, one of the first groups to visit the affected areas is the County damage assessment team. They are tasked with documenting any damage to structures so homeowners can start rebuilding.
On Friday, seven teams from the County, the California Office of Emergency Service, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Small Business Administration were out assessing damage.
The teams gather and relay information about the extent of damage after a disaster takes place. They also collect detailed, post-disaster information to evaluate the severity of damage and to strategize its response and recovery efforts.
With the potential of more rain forecasted, the County urges the public to take precautions.
