Blustery Winds No Match for Valentine’s Day Weddings at County

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Lots of wind, but lots of love in the air too as Valentine’s Day couples lined up to say “I do” at weddings throughout the County Tuesday.

Marriage ceremonies were held at all four of the County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk’s offices. Reservations were required except at the County Administration Center where couples could walk-in for an impromptu wedding ceremony.

Some couples didn’t let the cold winds stop them from an outdoor wedding. Others opted to stay inside to tie the knot.

Valentine’s Day is one of the most sought-after wedding days of the year for the Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk’s office. The busiest day took place on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, when the office issued 266 licenses and performed 242 ceremonies: 508 combined.

On Tuesday, the office issued at least 119 marriage licenses and conducted 82 weddings.

On average, the office sells nearly 25,000 marriage licenses and performs more than 11,000 weddings a year. Nearly half of customers who buy a marriage license also hold their wedding ceremonies at the Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk’s office.
