The County of San Diego Code Enforcement’s Ramona storefront office opened its doors Monday in a new spot just off Main Street, inside the Sheriff’s Department offices at 1424 Montecito Road.
Code enforcement, a division of the County’s department of Planning and Development Services, has operated a storefront office in Ramona for several years, giving local residents a place where they can meet personally with code enforcement officers.
Because there was little available space along Main Street — Ramona’s downtown core — the Code Enforcement office had been located at the Ramona Fire Department fire station on Dye Road.
However, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department was able to offer the Code Enforcement space in its Montecito Road office because those offices had recently been expanded.
The new office space will allow the storefront to be co-located with several other County services at the Montecito Road complex, including the Sheriff’s Department, Health and Human Services, and Child Protective Services. The California Highway Patrol also shares space within the Sheriff’s Department offices.
County Code Enforcement operates four community storefront offices, in Ramona, Bonita Fallbrook and Spring Valley/Casa de Oro.
The Ramona storefront offices are open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays, and by appointment between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
The storefront is located inside the double glass doors of the Sheriff’s main entrance at 1424 Montecito Road. Residents can meet with code enforcement officers to file complaints, receive information about zoning and regulations, and to get building plans stamped if residents have a building code violation.
