The County has launched a new interactive dashboard that gives residents a real-time look at the region’s affordable housing inventory.
The tool shows 127 housing developments with 9,516 affordable units, including 1,051 under construction and 1,625 in the pipeline. It also includes 1,276 designated as Permanent Supportive Housing.
The dashboard offers users a clearer picture of how affordable housing is growing across the region, including for those with income restrictions, people experiencing or at risk of homelessness and those with disabilities.
“This tool gives our communities a clearer look at the affordable housing the County is supporting throughout the region,” said David Estrella, director of County Housing and Community Development Services. “We know that finding a safe, stable and affordable home is challenging, so we have been bringing information about services, plans and data together in one easy-to-understand place.”
The Affordable Housing Inventory dashboard is viewable as part of the County’s new Housing for All Hub, a one-stop site for housing resources, services, data. It also features the Affordable Housing Map showing eligibility guidelines and property information.
Since 2017, the County of San Diego has invested more than $334 million in affordable housing using strategies like using excess County land, the Innovative Housing Trust Fund and other state, federal, and local sources. These investments have created more than 3,445 homes, with another 2,600 in development.
