
What does economic prosperity mean to the County of San Diego? This question and more were discussed at the County’s first Regional Economic Summit Tuesday.
The free event was held at the County Operations Center.
Caroline Smith, Director, Office of Economic Development and Government Affairs gave the opening remarks for the event. Smith spoke about the County’s economic development and its focus on equity.
That was followed by a presentation from Steve Lockett, Deputy Director, Economic Development and Prosperity. Lockett discussed economic prosperity and what it means to the County.
Economic development is a more traditional view aimed at creating businesses and jobs. Economic prosperity expands on these ideas with a focus on equity to increase the resources, opportunities and standard of living for all residents.
San Diego Regional EDC President and CEO Mark Cafferty moderated a conversation with a group of County leaders. The panel spoke about the County’s economic efforts, priorities and views on economic prosperity in the region.
