First 5 San Diego Annual Report: A Win for Children

Thousands of children under the age of 5 in San Diego County are healthier, better educated and better cared for according to First 5 San Diego’s Annual Report. The County Board of Supervisors accepted the report during its meeting Tuesday.

The organization is designed to improve the lives of children under the age of 5. First 5 receives Proposition 10 revenue from taxes on cigarettes and tobacco products.

This last fiscal year, First 5 invested more than $37 million into services and helped more than 54,000 young children and their families.

“All of the programs we are funding are hitting their marks, some are exceeding their goals,” said First 5 Chairman and Board Supervisor Ron Roberts. “It’s another productive year for helping our youngest San Diegans grow and thrive.”
