Halloween Can Be a ‘Ruff’ Night for Fido

Halloween is fun for many but for Fido – it can be one spooktacular bust.

If you look at it from his point of view (though it’s tough through that mask), there’s no jumping or barking at doorbell ringers much less chasing them away, decorations he must avoid, and he doesn’t even get any candy! For many dogs, Halloween is all tricks and no treats.  

“Some dogs get so stressed out by all the commotion, they act out,” said County Animal Services Director Dawn Danielson. “They’ll be happier if they are secured behind a closed door or in a crate in a room away from the front door.” 

To be fair, County Animal Services says the Halloween hullaballoo might not bother your pooch at all, but if you know your dog is apt to howl at all the commotion, here are some tips:
