Jimbo’s…Naturally!, a local organic and natural foods market, is helping raise money to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to homebound seniors served by San Diego County’s More on the Menu (MOM) program.
During a special MOM campaign that runs through Monday, Dec. 16, each Jimbo’s store will display MOM posters encouraging customers to support the program. Jimbo’s is also promoting the program in its newsletter and on its website. Jimbo’s has six locations in San Diego County.
“We appreciate businesses like Jimbo’s and their customers who are stepping up to help put fresh fruits and vegetables on the plates of some or our homebound seniors,” said Chairman Greg Cox, San Diego County Board of Supervisors.
MOM is part of the County’s effort to ensure that residents of all ages have access to a healthy diet. Participating nutrition providers determine which older adults on their routes would best benefit from the program, which provides a weekly delivery of fresh produce.
“Because of our commitment to healthy nutrition, Jimbo’s wants to support MOM and the County’s Live Well San Diego initiative,” said owner Jim “Jimbo” Someck.
Live Well San Diego is the County’s ongoing initiative to improve the health and safety of residents.
More on the Menu is funded by community donations. All donations go directly to the purchase and delivery of fresh produce. The program serves approximately 240 homebound seniors.
