A manual tally of 1 percent of the precinct and mail ballots cast in the presidential primary election is under way.

State law requires the Registrar of Voters to randomly select 1 percent of precinct and mail ballots as part of the certification of the election results. The random selections were made Wednesday, June 6; the actual manual tally began Monday, June 11 and will continue during normal business hours until it is completed.

The certification deadline for the June 5 election is July 3.

The Registrar of Voters plans to release the latest primary election results daily at 5 p.m. through June 15. Updates will be available at sdvote.com.
