Microchip Your Pets Before the Holidays!

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Before the hustle and bustle of the holidays, get your pets microchipped, vaccinated and licensed at the County Department of Animal Services.

A clinic will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18 at the shelter located at 2481 Palomar Airport Road in Carlsbad.

“The holidays remind us of how special our loved ones are and that includes our pets. There is no better time than now to microchip your animals,” said Director of County Animal Services Dawn Danielson. “Have peace of mind knowing your pets have microchips so if they get lost there’s a better chance you’ll be reunited with your animals.”

Animal Services will microchip pets for a one-time fee of $20, which includes the registration. Rabies vaccinations for dogs four months or older and cats three months or older are $6. Amnesty from late fees is offered to owners who have failed to license their dog or have allowed their dog’s annual license to lapse. Cats are not required to be licensed. Coupons for spaying ($50) and neutering ($25) are available for dogs and cats.

Microchipping and rabies vaccinations are available to anyone. Licensing and spay or neuter coupons are available for residents who live in the unincorporated county or in the County’s client cities of San Diego, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar and Santee.
