Carrying a little extra cash from your tax return? What better way to spend it than to protect your pets with microchips?
County Animal Services is offering a clinic from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14 at the animal care facility in Bonita at 5821 Sweetwater Road. You can microchip, vaccinate and license your pets all at once. You can even pick up a discount coupon worth $100 to spay female cats, pit bulls and Chihuahuas.
“The chance of a lost pet being reunited with its owner is increased if the pet is microchipped,” said County Animal Services Director Dawn Danielson. “Put your tax return to good use and get one for your cat or dog. It will give you peace of mind and could save your pet’s life!”
You can microchip your pets for a one-time fee of $20 which includes the registration. Rabies vaccinations for dogs four months or older and cats three months or older are $6. Amnesty from late fees is offered to owners who haven’t licensed their dog or have allowed their dog’s annual license to lapse.
In an effort to prevent the birth of unwanted babies this time of year, $100 discount coupons are available to spay female cats, pit bulls and Chihuahuas. Discount coupons worth $75 are available for other female breed dogs and male dogs and cats.
Microchipping and rabies vaccinations are available to anyone. Licensing and spay or neuter coupons are available for residents who live in the unincorporated county or its contract cities: San Diego, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar and Santee. For the protection of owners and their pets, dogs must be on a leash and cats in a carrier while at the clinic.
