The Annual Report – Numbers Show a County in Motion

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The County of San Diego is always moving, seeking ways to improve services, striving for certain milestones and preparing for future challenges.

And that’s what you’ll see in the new 2014-15 Annual Report, with the theme of a County in Motion: how the County reached certain goals and what it’s doing to attain new ones – all designed to improve the quality of life for residents in San Diego County.

For starters, the County’s overall vision is now “a region that is Building Better Health, Living Safely and Thriving – Live Well San Diego.”  That vision is incorporated into everything the County does. Other community leaders have been invited to share in that audacious goal for our region, and more than 120 partners have joined the cause.

The annual report shows how the County operates and how it’s making a difference in terms of healthy families, safe communities and sustainable environments.

But it’s more than facts and figures; you can learn what the County is doing to protect the vulnerable, from those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease to people in residential care facilities to human-trafficking victims. You’ll see that crime is dropping while the number of services to help young people at risk is growing, how accountability is balanced with rehabilitation, how fire protection has been strengthened, and how veterans are getting the services they need.

The County is continuing to invest in new, energy-efficient facilities to allow employees to provide better customer service. And it’s striving to get more residents involved in the community.

The County’s annual report is designed to be a quick read but it does have depth. Click on the links for more information, including County News Center videos or articles, the County’s Operational Plan and interesting numbers from each department on SDCountyinFocus.
