VIDEO: Baseball, Law Enforcement Help Empower Youth

Porter Elementary School kids got the chance to batter up with a San Diego Padres pitcher and our local law enforcement at a baseball clinic that taught the children some important lessons in a fun environment.

STAR/PAL brings together children and law enforcement officers in a variety of fun settings so they can develop positive relationships. For this clinic, kids learned about bullying, safety in public and even gangs.

“I learned that if somebody tells you ‘I have candy or puppies in my car,’ you should never go in because they could do something bad to you,” said Hailey, a 10-year-old student.

Members of the County’s Probation and Sheriff’s Department took part in the camp, which mixed life skills lessons in with tips on hitting and throwing.
