Cool Zone Hours Extended at Two East County Libraries

The Borrego Springs and Potrero branches of the San Diego County Library will be open extended hours as Cool Zones because of the excessive heat in the region this weekend.

Both libraries will be open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Saturday, and 12 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Both branches are normally closed on Sundays.

The libraries are part of the County’s network of over 115 air-conditioned buildings throughout the region that serve as Cool Zone sites. Locations and hours of operation can be found on a new interactive map on CoolZones.org, by calling 2-1-1 San Diego or by calling 1-800-510-2020, ext. 6 Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The sites are identified by a light blue polar bear Cool Zone logo.

You can also find a list of tips to beat the heat at CoolZones.org.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory in effect until 8 p.m. Sunday for the desert, valley and mountain (below 5,000 feet) areas of San Diego County.
