It takes a special person to give the gift of time and the County of San Diego is lucky enough to have nearly 5,000 of them. Their contribution is so great, more than $16 million worth of County volunteer services went to the region’s residents this past year.

The Board of Supervisors honored these volunteers prior to its regular board meeting on Tuesday. Chair Nathan Fletcher kicked off the 2022 Annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony with a proclamation declaring April Volunteer Recognition Month.

Countywide volunteer coordinator Marylyn Gines and departmental volunteer coordinators accepted the proclamation.
