County, Marines Team Up to Collect Toys for Tots

Reading Time: < 1 minute

County residents are again caught up in the holiday spirit, evidenced by their generosity in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign at County airports.

This past Saturday, U.S. Marines in full-dress uniform were on hand to collect toy donations at Ramona Airport. Collections included 35 bicycles along with other toys that filled two seven-ton trucks, two Marine Corps vans and 50 collection boxes.

“The Marines were kept busy, not only receiving the toys and thanking those who brought them, but also calling for more vehicles, boxes and personnel,” said Bo Donovan, Ramona Airport Manger.

Toys came in on bicycle, in vans and cars, and were even delivered via “air freight,” flown in on private aircraft from other airports in the region.

County Airports has been a partner with the Marines Corps Reserves in their Toys for Tots drive the past five years, and Donovan described this as “the best year ever.”

County residents can still drop off new, unwrapped toys at Fallbrook Airpark until Dec. 17 when Marines will once again be on hand to receive toy donations from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
