The County of San Diego is accepting requests for proposal from developers interested in constructing affordable housing for seniors on County-owned land in Escondido. The deadline to submit questions is Feb. 2, 2024, at 5 p.m., and the deadline to submit proposals is March 1, 2024.
The development will be located at 620 East Valley Parkway and every unit will be affordable housing. The Board of Supervisors approved the use of the County property for the development last year.
Applicants should have experience and resources to successfully design, entitle, finance, build and operate a multifamily low-income housing development and comply with government code requirements.

County Housing and Community Development Services provides affordable housing opportunities to more than 40,000 people each year through various housing programs and affordable housing efforts.
Since 2017, the County has invested more than $279 million in affordable housing, including using County excess property and its Innovative Housing Trust Fund, and almost 1,800 units have opened. There are an additional 3,265 units on the way.
When all the developments in the pipeline are complete, the total number of affordable units supported by the County will reach over 9,500. This is expected to provide homes to nearly 21,000 people.
