2018 was a busy year – San Diego residents learned how to prepare for a tsunami, our Animal Services helped put back together a broken tortoise, a famous actress adopted some bunnies and our experts taught you all how to compost.
In case you missed it, here are some of our favorite County News Center stories of 2018.
If you missed out on our puppy cam from Animal Services, it may be because you aren’t following us on Facebook yet (which we highly encourage you do). Here’s the sweet video that is sure to make you say “aww!”
Oh, and following us on Facebook will also get you sneak peeks of our snowy regions – like up near Julian on Christmas:
Of course, our Facebook page is also educational – like this video teaching local residents what to do in case of a tsunami.
Follow us along on Instagram so you don’t miss out on stories like when poor Humpty fell off the wall (don’t worry, Animal Services stitched him back together!)
Of course, we also post delicious Instagram eye-candy like this sunset as seen from one of our libraries. Tag us in your County photos on Instagram – we’re always looking to showcase content!
This year, we ramped up on our virtual hikes. Preview these trails before you hit them!
Bazinga! This actress added some cute fluffy animals to her family via one of our animal shelters.
Those of you who found love in 2018 really appreciated this post (make sure you take the quiz at the bottom of the article!)
Google Maps also got a piece of our parks. Street View is now available on our trails! It’s worth a peek.
Composting is nature’s way to recycle and easy for anyone to learn. This video is proof.
Living in San Diego County means enjoying the outdoors – pretty much year-round! Watch out for these bugs that could bite!
This program is a must for parents of kids with autism. Don’t take it from us. Take it from the parent who said, “It’s one of the best things I’ve heard about in a while for kids on the spectrum.”
Our library offers up all other sorts of free goodies for all ages – free e-books and audiobooks. Get your e-reader, download the app, and enjoy endless book options!
We celebrated 70 years of providing adoption services in 2018! And the cherry on top was when these 19 families finalized adoptions of 22 people in November!
Each month, we round up our best videos and put them in a short and easy-to-digest format we call County Connection. Take a look or subscribe to our YouTube channel so you get monthly notifications.
