More than 1,300 purple flags lined the lawn of the County Administration building today to commemorate International Overdose Awareness Day. Each flag represents a life lost in San Diego this past year to a drug overdose.

County leaders, public health and behavioral health professionals, public safety experts, emergency personnel and family members came together to educate others on the dangers of street drugs, fentanyl and social media as a pipeline to buy and sell illegal drugs.

The County has inpatient and outpatient treatment services available throughout the region to help San Diegans with substance use disorders. Call the San Diego County Access and Crisis Line 888-724-7240 or 2-1-1 San Diego. Both resources are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
