Lighting the Way to a New Holiday Tradition in Fallbrook

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Get your camera ready. The once small pine tree outside the Fallbrook Community Center will once again become ablaze with lights Friday, Dec. 5 in hopes of kicking off a new holiday tradition in the community.

Some 30 years ago, the tree was at the center of a couple of tree-lighting ceremonies but with time they fell by the wayside.

Now the pine stands 60 feet tall and come Friday at dusk, visitors can join the countdown to once again light the tree. At the flip of the switch, 2,000 colorful LED lights will come to life and sparkle in the night. The tree will be lit every night during the holidays.

“The tree-lighting ceremony will be a wonderful kickoff to the holiday season in Fallbrook and we encourage everyone to attend,” said Fallbrook Community Director Gordon Stone.

The event will also include crafts for children and holiday music from the Fallbrook High School Madrigal Singers and the Fallbrook High School Band. The snack bar will be open and visitors can stroll by 30 display booths put up by service clubs, non-profits and other organizations. They’ll be offering free information, handouts and other items such as cookbooks, poinsettias, mistletoe and the like for a suggested donation.

Friday’s event runs from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. outside the Fallbrook Community Center located at 341 Heald Lane, Fallbrook, CA 92028. Both the event and parking are free. For more information, call (760) 728-1671
