Microchip Your Pets for the New Year!

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Start the New Year off right by protecting your pets.

You can get them microchipped, vaccinated and licensed between noon and 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 13 at the County Department of Animal Services in Bonita. The shelter is located at 5821 Sweetwater Road. “We have housed and cared for hundreds of lost animals and confirming identity and ownership is critical to reuniting pets with their owners,” said County Animal Services Director Dawn Danielson. “A microchip removes any doubt about ownership and helps us get the animals back home with their owners as quick as possible.” Animal Services will microchip pets for a one-time fee of $20 which includes the registration. Rabies vaccinations for dogs four months or older and cats three months or older are $6. Amnesty from late fees is offered to owners who have failed to license their dog or have allowed their dog’s annual license to lapse. Licenses are not required for cats. Microchipping and rabies vaccinations are available to anyone. Licenses and spay/neuter coupons ($25 for male/$50 for female) are available for residents who live in the unincorporated county or in the contract cities of San Diego, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar and Santee. For more information, contact the County Department of Animal Services at (619) 767-2675 or visit sddac.com.
