Name Your Own Purrrfect Price

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Love cats and kittens? How do you feel about a good deal? The County’s animal shelters are overwhelmed with furry felines right now so it’s holding a “Name your Price” cat adoption event starting Friday, June 26 through Friday, July 31.

That means the Department of Animal Service’s normal cat adoption fee of $58 will be waived, and you’ll be asked what adoption fee you’d like to pay.

“Due to the uncontrolled breeding of cats, our shelters are always inundated with kittens and cats this time of year,” said County Animal Services Director Dawn Danielson. “The Name Your Price event gives these cats and kittens a better chance of getting into new homes where they can begin offering years of unconditional love and companionship.”

The adoptions include spaying or neutering, vaccinations, a microchip and a free health examination. The “Name Your Price” event has a limit of two cats per household.

All three County shelters are open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The County shelters are located at 5480 Gaines St., San Diego; 2481 Palomar Airport Rd., Carlsbad; and 5821 Sweetwater Rd., Bonita.
