At 3:05 p.m. Thursday the McClellan-Palomar Airport runway reopened to all air traffic.

The runway was closed following a helicopter crash at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Nov. 18 that took the lives of the two individuals on board.

Earlier this morning the airport opened for helicopter activity at the far east end of the airfield. Following the completion of the accident site inspection by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), airport staff and HAZMAT crews worked to clear the scene and remove debris from the runway. There was no damage to public or private structures or equipment as a result of the accident.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner has released the names of the victims. At this time, the NTSB has not released any information about the cause of the crash as the investigation is currently ongoing.
