Wanted: Variety of Workers at County Jails

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is on the lookout for registered and licensed vocational nurses, correctional counselors, licensed mental health clinicians, cooks, food service workers and dieticians among other civilian support positions who might be interested in staffing the San Diego County jails.

The department is holding a Detentions Career Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at the County Operations Center, 5520 Overland Ave. in Kearny Mesa. The fair will include information on many of the positions within the jail. Several civilian staff members from various facilities will also be on hand to discuss their careers, responsibilities and experiences working in the jails.

San Diego County Human Resources staff will also be available to answer any questions about the jobs.

The jails are also trying to fill other positions including stock clerks, laundry workers, custodians, and detentions information assistants, processing technicians and processing supervisors.
