San Diego County COVID-19 Update – 6-23-2021

Here is today’s COVID-19 update from the County Health and Human Services Agency with data through June 22.

Vaccination Progress:

Deaths:

  • Seven new deaths were reported between June 16 and June 22. The region’s total is 3,777.
  • Five men and two women, all with underlying medical conditions, died between Jan. 13 and June 18.
  • Of the people who died, two were 80 years or older, two were in their 70s, one was in their 60s and one was in their 50s.

Cases, Case Rate and Testing:

  • 70 COVID-19 cases were reported to the County on June 22. The region’s total is now 281,936.
  • San Diego County’s case rate is 1.6 cases per 100,000 residents as of June 22.
  • 7,944 tests were reported to the County on June 22, and the percentage of new positive cases was 0.9%.
  • The 14-day rolling percentage of positive cases among tests is 0.9%.

Community Setting Outbreaks:

  • Five new community outbreaks were confirmed in the past seven days (June 16 and June 22): three in restaurant/bar settings, one in a TK-12th grade school setting and one in a business setting.
  • The community outbreaks trigger is more than seven in a 7-day period.
