County Selects Local Projects for $21 Million in Grants to Improve Air Quality

The Air Pollution Control District has selected projects from 49 organizations to receive $21.3 million in grants that would keep 692 tons of climate-changing, greenhouse gas and pollution — roughly the weight of six space shuttle spacecraft — out of local skies.

Students 2020 Vision Celebrates Clean Air on APCD’s New Calendar

Call it their 2020 vision. Hundreds of San Diego County students have spoken — and drawn and painted and colored — to say that clean air and protecting the environment are important. Nearly 500 students submitted their personal art to the Air Pollution Control District’s 2020 Calendar contest.

Supervisors Approve Traffic Study to Reduce Air Pollution in Portside Neighborhoods

The County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a plan this week to reduce air pollution and improve health in the region’s Portside neighborhoods — Barrio Logan, Logan Heights, Sherman Heights and western National City — by studying the types of trucks and cars driving through them.
