San Diego County Probation with San Diego Youth Services are implementing a million-dollar grant from the Sierra Health Foundation, California Office of Youth and Community Restoration and The Vera Institute of Justice to reduce and ultimately end the incarceration of girls and gender-expansive youth.

Probation Department Awarded Grant to Reduce the Number of Girls in Custody

The Vera Institute of Justice and the Office of Youth and Community Restoration awarded the San Diego County Probation Department a $125,000 grant. The grant is part of the Ending Girls’ Incarceration initiative. It will include technical assistance from the Vera Institute of Justice to help improve programming, collect data, and close policy gaps for girls and gender-expansive youth.
