Earl lives in one of 127-units designed to meet the needs of low-income seniors 55 and up, earning between 25 percent and 50 percent of the Area Median Income.

Tomorrow, May 30, the County will celebrate the grand opening of Levant Senior Cottages, a new affordable housing development in Linda Vista for low-income seniors. For future resident Earl Deshazer, this new home means getting back the independence he lost after a major health challenge.

There are 96 new affordable housing options for families and individuals in San Diego County. A grand opening celebration was held today for the Amanecer Apartments on Ulric Street in Linda Vista. The Community HousingWorks development features apartments large enough for families with some units reserved for foster youth and unhoused veterans. The County invested $7 million dollars of Innovative Housing Trust Funds in the project and helped welcome these new residents home.
