Today is Last Day to Register to Vote in Carlsbad Election

Reading Time: 2 minutes

If you are a Carlsbad resident and want to vote in the Feb. 23 Special Municipal Election on Measure A, the Agua Hedionda South Shore Specific Plan, you must register to vote by midnight tonight.

You will need to register if you:

  • are not currently registered
  • recently moved
  • recently changed your name

If you’re not sure about your registration status, check it online. If you’re not registered or need to change your registration, you’ll find that form there, too. If your signature is confirmed through Department of Motor Vehicles records, it will automatically be sent to the Registrar of Voters office. If the signature is not confirmed, print the form, sign it and mail it to the Registrar today or you can drop it off in person at the Registrar’s office in Kearny Mesa. By state law, the Registrar must have your original signature.

For voters without access to a computer, registration forms are also available at the Registrar’s office, post offices, public libraries, City Clerk offices and Department of Motor Vehicles offices. For voters who need language assistance, election materials are also available in Spanish, Filipino, Vietnamese and Chinese.

Registration forms must be postmarked or delivered to the Registrar by 5 p.m. today. Voters can also register online until midnight tonight.

The Registrar of Voters is located at 5600 Overland Ave., San Diego, 92123 on the County Operations Center campus.

Meantime, early voting is already under way at the Registrar’s office. Voters can cast their ballots there from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until Election Day when the voting hours will change to 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. to reflect the hours at the polls.

Registered voters can also request a mail ballot until Feb. 16. For additional information about the election, call (858) 565-5800 or visit sdvote.com. For information regarding Measure A, visit the City of Carlsbad website.
